This yoga had its foundation from Yogi Swtmarama back in India during the 15th century. This kind of yoga’s all about combining two extremes – the first being ‘ha’, which is the sun and which is thought to be a positive current. The second is the ‘tha’, which is the moon and thought to be a negative current. An individual who performs Hatha Yoga performs different Asanas, or physical postures, Pranayams, or breathing exercises, mudras, meditation, and Shatkriyas, which are purification procedures.
This is known as the true knowledge yoga, and it aims to detach an individual who is performing it from all of the temporary items in their life. The person who is performing it will attain tranquility, control over her or his mind, faith, sense, concentration ability, and the ability to withstand the playing of opposites in nature. Through practicing this type of yoga, an individual will remain single-minded in any and all situations and will attain self-control.
